Pakistan’s enthusiastic marathoners, Muhammad Yousuf Malik and Mona Khan, participated in the recently held event at Sydney, Australia, where they ran a distance of 42.2 kilometers while the young Muhammad Mustafa took part in the junior segment of five kilometers.
Upon return to Karachi, flying via Abu Dhabi, Yousuf Malik, during a brief chat with PNFS on September 5, expressed his delight at their participation in the Sydney Marathon, acclaimed as one of the most popular races internationally.
“It felt great to be taking part in such a prestigious competition and representing our country in the shores of a place as distant as Australia where we were warmly received by the organizers and the large number of fans. We carried the pride, and cultural identity of our homeland to the other side of the world,” he observed.
The widely travelled Yousuf Malik vowed to continue his running spree and aimed to scale greater heights in marathon running.
